Homeownership is an important ideal for many Americans. According to a recent survey from home protection company Cinch Home Services, 71.8 percent of people ranked homeownership as either “very” or “extremely” important.

- Alcohol (53.3 percent)
- Taking vacations (52.5 percent)
- Buying new clothes (45 percent)
- Dining out (43.8 percent)
The Takeaway:
So, what does this mean for you? Many potential buyers are willing to make sacrifices in order to save the money they need to successfully buy a home. So, if homeownership is one of your goals, it may be helpful to start thinking about what you’d be willing to give up—because sacrificing those cocktails, weekend getaways, and shopping trips (just for a little while!) could help you reach your goal faster.
